Staffordshire County Council has launched the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme, which aims to assist residents struggling to manage fuel bills. The initiative prioritizes individuals deemed “most vulnerable” and offers free upgrades for heating and insulation to improve home environments for those affected by fuel poverty, cold living conditions, or health issues exacerbated by low temperatures.
The council anticipates a high demand for the program, as it seeks to support residents during the winter months. Those interested in the grant can verify their eligibility online, with funding available for improvements such as smart heating controls and loft and wall insulation.
Martin Rogerson, the cabinet member for health and care, emphasized the importance of ensuring residents remain warm and healthy during winter. He noted that collaboration with district and borough councils, along with local health partners, enables targeted support for households that would benefit the most from the assistance provided by this scheme. The initiative is part of efforts to address public health priorities in the region.
