Deirdre Williams, who formerly led Apple’s health initiatives, transitioned the Chief Operating Officer role to Sabih Khan, the company’s previous vice president of operations, in July. As Williams prepares to leave Apple at the end of this year, the company is redistributing some of his other responsibilities. Craig Federighi, the head of Apple software, will take charge of watchOS, while John Ternus, the hardware leader, will oversee Apple Watch hardware engineering.
Additionally, Apple is reorganizing other positions within its structure. According to reports, Apple fitness chief Jay Blahnik will now report to health vice president Sumbul Desai as part of an internal investigation into workplace conduct. Previously, both executives reported to Williams. In August, a lawsuit was filed by a former employee against Blahnik, alleging the creation of a toxic work environment.
This internal restructuring and the allegations faced by Blahnik raise questions about the company’s environment and management practices.
