Apple announces even more major executive turnover

Lisa Jackson, who serves as Apple’s vice president for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, is set to retire in late January 2026. Meanwhile, Meta’s current chief legal officer, Jennifer Newstead, will assume the role of general counsel at Apple starting March 1, 2026. Newstead will take over the position from Katherine Adams, who has held the role since 2017.

In anticipation of Jackson’s retirement and Newstead’s onboarding, Apple is implementing organizational changes. The company has announced that the Government Affairs team will transition to Adams, who will manage the team until her retirement at the end of next year. Following this period, Newstead will lead the Government Affairs team along with her general counsel duties, reflecting a structural combination of the two departments. Newstead’s title will be updated to senior vice president, General Counsel and Government Affairs. It has also been noted that the Environment and Social Initiatives teams will come under the leadership of Sabih Khan, who is the chief operating officer.

Prior to her tenure at Apple, Jackson served as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during part of President Obama’s administration. She joined Apple in 2013 and was promoted to lead its policy initiatives in 2015. Adams, who became part of Apple in 2017, previously worked at Honeywell for 14 years. These leadership changes and organizational adjustments occur as the company continues to navigate its corporate responsibilities and strategic directions.
