The Stray Animal Foundation of Malaysia (SAFM) has called for an investigation by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan). SAFM has urged witnesses or individuals with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the inquiry.
The foundation noted that animal abuse falls under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010, which stipulates severe penalties. Offenders may be subject to fines of up to RM100,000, imprisonment for up to three years, or both.
