Local law enforcement agencies in the United States that utilize Flock’s platforms, such as Nova or FlockOS, can now request video footage from Ring users through the Neighbors app. According to Ring, these requests must include specific details regarding an alleged crime, including its time and location, as well as a unique investigation code. Users in designated areas will see these requests in their Neighbors app feed.
Ring emphasizes that participation in the Community Request program is entirely voluntary. Users have the option to disable notifications related to these requests. Additionally, the company assures users that law enforcement agencies will not have access to information regarding who responds to or declines these requests. The implementation of this feature is scheduled to occur in the coming months.
