What to expect from Amazon’s big fall hardware event on Tuesday

Amazon awkwardly edited the guns out of James Bond art

Last week, on James Bond Day, Amazon unveiled new poster art for various Bond films. However, fans quickly observed that James Bond’s iconic Walther PPK was missing from all the images. In numerous instances, the weapon appeared to have been removed digitally, resulting in notable alterations. For example, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan were shown holding nothing in the posters for Dr. No and Goldeneye, respectively. Roger Moore’s image from Live and Let Die seemed digitally modified, while another poster for A View to a Kill appeared to elongate his arms awkwardly to conceal the absence of his firearm.

The changes sparked significant discussion among fans, with many expressing surprise over Amazon’s decision to alter such a well-established franchise. Some critics labeled the alterations as part of a “woke” agenda. In response to the backlash, Amazon later updated the thumbnails to feature still images from the films, but fans noted that these new images also did not include any firearms. Notably, the still for Skyfall also appeared to have been edited to remove a weapon. As of the time of reporting, Amazon had not issued a statement regarding the changes to the poster art.
