Adobe’s computational photography app, Project Indigo, has faced challenges in adapting to the new square-format selfie sensor introduced with the iPhone 17 series. For approximately a month, the app did not support Apple’s latest devices. During this period, Adobe worked on resolving the issues and provided updates via the Adobe Community forums. However, the company ultimately opted to disable access to the front-facing camera entirely in order to release a version of Project Indigo with support for the iPhone 17.
Since its launch in June, Project Indigo has attracted users who appreciated its softer approach to image processing compared to the standard iPhone camera app. The adjustment to the new sensors in the iPhone 17 series posed significant difficulties for the app. Adobe indicated that a forthcoming update in iOS 26.1 would enable the functionality of the selfie camera within Project Indigo. Until that update is rolled out, users of the iPhone 17 will have access to rear-camera support only.
