Adobe has introduced a new model customization service, Adobe AI Foundry, aimed at enhancing its Firefly AI model for enterprise teams. This service allows enterprise customers to create tailored versions of Firefly models that are specifically redesigned and retrained to reflect the unique characteristics of their brands, products, and intellectual property.
Adobe AI Foundry distinguishes between Foundry models, which can understand multiple concepts, and custom Firefly models that are limited to single concepts. The Foundry models will also be multimodal, able to process various types of input beyond just images, unlike the standard Firefly models.
According to Hannah Elsakr, Vice President of GenAI New Business Ventures at Adobe, the initiative resulted from demand among enterprise clients for more advanced custom options. Adobe will oversee the rearchitecting process to meet the complex needs of these customers. Elsakr emphasized that the intellectual property generated will remain with the enterprise, ensuring that it is not integrated back into the base model, thus safeguarding the clients’ proprietary information.
Adobe plans to deploy the Foundry models using its Firefly Services API, and Elsakr characterized AI Foundry as an advisory service, with Adobe teams assisting enterprises in adjusting model parameters. She described the process as “deep tuning,” suggesting a more intricate approach than standard fine-tuning, including the integration of enterprise-specific data into Firefly.
The implementation will involve Adobe’s teams working closely with clients to determine the data required, which will then be securely transferred for model training. Foundry models are expected to be expansive, drawing on additional data to enhance performance.
Home Depot and Walt Disney Imagineering are among the first clients to utilize Adobe AI Foundry, with the Home Depot’s Chief Marketing Officer noting the significance of this technology in improving customer engagement and streamlining creative workflows.
In the broader context of enterprise AI, many organizations already engage in fine-tuning models to align them more closely with their data and operational needs. Elsakr noted that companies might utilize multiple versions of Firefly, including the Foundry version for comprehensive projects and a custom version for specific tasks.
