Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, has gained attention for demonstrating the ability to learn Kung Fu independently. In a recent video shared by Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter), Optimus showcased impressive balance and control while practicing martial arts with a human trainer, performing movements with high accuracy.

The video featured a greeting between Optimus and the trainer before they began a friendly combat session. Observers noted that the robot mimicked the trainer’s Kung Fu techniques effectively, maintaining stability and coordination throughout. Musk clarified that Optimus operates solely on artificial intelligence (AI), with no human assistance or remote control involved in the training session.

Previous versions of Optimus required human support for basic tasks, such as serving popcorn at the Tesla Diner, where it was eventually revealed to be operable via teleoperation. This latest development indicates a substantial advancement, as Optimus can now master complex movements independently.

Musk has expressed confidence in Optimus’s potential, stating that the robot can acquire new skills simply by observing humans. It has previously learned tasks such as vacuuming and sorting objects by watching people and online videos. He anticipates that the robotics division could account for nearly 80% of Tesla’s future value and plans to increase production to 5,000 units by 2025.
