HP has introduced a new ultrawide monitor aimed at enhancing productivity in office settings. The HP Series 5 Pro features a 49-inch VA IPS panel with a 32:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 5120 x 1440. This design achieves a display equivalent to using two 27-inch monitors side by side. Unlike similar products from competitors like Samsung, Dell, Lenovo, and LG, this monitor includes a built-in 5-megapixel webcam that can be concealed when not in use.
During a preview event, HP representatives demonstrated software that allows the monitor to function as two or three virtual displays, mimicking a multi-monitor setup. The panel showed adequate brightness and contrast when tested in a well-lit office. Connectivity options on the rear of the monitor include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, Ethernet, and USB ports equipped with KVM functionality. While the monitor can achieve a refresh rate of 165Hz and covers 99% of the sRGB color space, its 5ms response time and 8-bit color depth may not meet the requirements for gaming or precision work in color-sensitive fields.
Details regarding pricing for the monitor will be made available ahead of its launch scheduled for November.
