The shutdown occurred on Wednesday when Congress failed to agree on a funding bill. This impasse has been complicated by ongoing conflicts regarding the extension of subsidies for the Affordable Care Act, which Democrats support but face opposition from Republicans. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) stated on X that the Democrats were responsible for voting to close the government.
It is worth noting that not all federal agencies are displaying partisan messages. Agencies like the Department of State, the Department of Education, and the Federal Communications Commission have opted for a more neutral approach, stating only that their sites will remain unupdated due to the shutdown.
