Natalie has created a compact Game Boy board that is smaller than a Game Boy cartridge, utilizing real Game Boy chips and cartridges, rather than an emulator or a Raspberry Pi. This project involves a custom circuit board designed by Natalie herself, which is housed in a Lego shell. To accommodate a functioning device, she integrated a small screen kit, necessitating the removal of some Lego bricks.
While the project is still a work in progress, the buttons have not yet been mounted on a printed circuit board (PCB). Instead, they are set to be placed on a custom 3D-printed Lego piece. Additionally, Natalie has already incorporated a USB-C connection for power, showcasing a glimpse of the internal components of the device.
There is potential for others to replicate this project, depending on their skill level. Natalie offers aftermarket components for Game Boy modding and plans to share her circuit board designs online. She has indicated that she intends to release the final version once it meets her standards.
