Peruvian authorities have apprehended a man suspected of orchestrating the murders of two 20-year-old women and a 15-year-old girl in Argentina. The victims, identified as cousins Morena Verdi and Brenda del Castillo, along with 15-year-old Lara Morena Gutiérrez, were allegedly lured to a house near Buenos Aires on September 19 with a promise of remuneration for attending a party.
Investigators discovered the mutilated bodies of the victims several days later, buried in the garden of the location where they had been taken. Reports indicate that their abduction was linked to an international drug gang. Surveillance footage captured the women entering a van with fake license plates, aiding police in tracing their movements.
Security Minister Javier Alonso of Buenos Aires province stated that the brutal murder was broadcast to a closed group of 45 viewers on Instagram, during which a voice reportedly commented on the victims being punished for stealing drugs. After the crime, Argentine police arrested seven individuals, including a man accused of preparing the burial site and another pair believed to have transported the victims.
The primary suspect, 20-year-old Tony Janzen Valverde Victoriano, known as “Little J,” initially evaded capture. He was ultimately detained by Peruvian police while hidden in a van traveling on a motorway 70 kilometers south of Lima. In a related operation, Matías Ozorio, a 28-year-old Argentine man considered to be Valverde’s associate, was also arrested and is expected to be extradited to Argentina.
Peruvian police have reported having intercepted communications between Valverde and Ozorio, enabling them to trace the suspects’ movements. Ozorio informed authorities that he had been deceived by a drug gang regarding his entry into Peru. The apprehension of the suspects has drawn attention to the ongoing issues surrounding femicide and drug-related violence in the region.
