Separating the realities of artificial intelligence from exaggerated claims can be challenging. In response to this, the AI Hype Index has been developed to provide a concise overview of the current state of the industry.
Chatbots are widely used by millions of people daily, yet many users remain unaware of their underlying mechanisms or their potential impacts. To investigate these effects, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has initiated an inquiry focusing on the influence of chatbots on children and teenagers. Meanwhile, OpenAI is beginning to clarify how users interact with ChatGPT and the reasons behind the tendency of its large language models (LLMs) to generate inaccurate information.
Despite existing knowledge gaps, governments continue to advance AI initiatives. In the United States, political figure Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is encouraging his staff to utilize ChatGPT, while in Albania, a chatbot is being employed for public contract procurement processes. As these initiatives evolve, stakeholders are urged to proceed with caution.
