DETROIT ā Five individuals have been charged in connection with an alleged kidnapping and theft scheme involving a man who was found assaulted next to his burning SUV on Labor Day. The suspects, identified as Roland Terrel Chatmon, Leica Lopez Martinez, Ieasha Ann Stroman, Dnequia Jenise Stroman, and Kenneth Paul Anderson, are facing federal charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
The investigation began after a video went viral in August showing the victim receiving a large sum of money from a social media influencer. Following this, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the victim’s abduction and the subsequent theft of items from his home.
According to court documents, the events on September 1 unfolded when Lopez Martinez approached the victim under the pretext of needing a ride due to car trouble. Once on Detroit’s east side, multiple armed suspects allegedly attacked him, bound him, and threatened his wife, who was later restrained during a home invasion that also involved the theft of a safe. The victim was discovered injured beside his vehicle after it had been set on fire.
Evidence collected by federal agents included GPS data, surveillance footage, and ATM records, which reportedly show the suspects using the victim’s financial information. Investigators executed search warrants at the suspects’ residences earlier this week, uncovering various stolen items and illegal materials.
The case remains under active investigation by the ATF, and the suspects are scheduled to return to court next week.
