After previously ceasing support for third-party DJ applications, Spotify Premium subscribers can now once again access their playlists and queue songs directly through the Mac and Windows versions of Algoriddim’s djay software. Currently, this Spotify integration is limited to the desktop versions, and neither Spotify nor Algoriddim has provided any information regarding the feature’s potential availability on mobile apps.
Spotify had initially ended this integration in 2020, citing licensing challenges. The company’s Terms of Service prohibit the mixing of its songs, which led to the discontinuation of the feature. However, it appears that whatever obstacles existed have now been resolved, allowing Spotify to return to the djay app.
Moreover, users can access this integration with the free version of the djay app, although a Pro subscription offers additional benefits such as hardware integration and advanced effects, which may be more appealing to professional DJs. Since Spotify’s initial withdrawal of support, Algoriddim has continued to expand its offerings, integrating with Tidal, SoundCloud, and adding Apple Music compatibility. As a result, many DJs who were using djay in a professional capacity may have shifted to these alternate services during the absence of Spotify integration.
