Bodycare to shut remaining stores with loss of 444 jobs

All remaining Bodycare stores are set to close, resulting in the loss of 444 positions after the health and beauty retailer’s administrators were unable to secure a buyer for the chain. The business entered administration earlier this month, with administrators stating that it was “no longer viable to continue” operations.

The closure involves 56 remaining stores, with all shutdowns anticipated to occur by this Saturday. A spokesperson for the administrators mentioned that support will be provided to those affected by the closures.

Nick Holloway, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, noted that efforts would continue to explore options for the company’s assets, including the Bodycare brand, and further updates will be provided in due time. Since the retailer’s collapse on September 5, more than a thousand employees have lost their jobs.

Bodycare was established in Lancashire in 1970 and had distinct store layouts characterized by bright lighting and eye-catching window displays featuring household items. The stores offered a variety of products, including lip balm, perfume, false nails, and foot cream, displayed in a warehouse-style arrangement.
