Microsoft is set to increase the prices of its Xbox Series S and X consoles in the United States, effective October 3rd. The Xbox Series X will see its price rise from $599.99 to $649.99, while the Xbox Series S will increase from $379.99 to $399.99.
The company has attributed these price increases to “changes in the macroeconomic environment,” suggesting that tariffs may play a role. Notably, prices for Xbox controllers and headsets in the U.S. will not change, and no adjustments to prices will occur for Xbox consoles outside the U.S.
The upcoming price changes will result in a $20 increase for the Xbox Series S and a $50 hike for the Xbox Series X. In addition, the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition Xbox Series X will rise by $70, setting its new price at $799.99.
Previously, in May 2023, Microsoft raised the prices of Xbox products worldwide, which included increases of $100 for the Series X and $80 for the Series S. The new price adjustments mean that the Series X has increased by a total of $150, and the Series S has risen by $100 in just six months.
The Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition, which debuted at $599.99 nearly a year ago, will now retail for $799.99, marking a $200 increase in less than a year. This recent announcement represents the second price adjustment for Xbox products in 2023.
