Authorities in the United States have confirmed that a decomposing body discovered in a car registered to musician D4vd has been identified as that of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who was reported missing. The remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla at a tow yard in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on September 8, following reports of a foul odor.
Rivas, originally from Lake Elsinore, California, was 13 years old when she disappeared on April 5, 2024. Reports suggest the car had been at the tow yard for a few days prior to the discovery of her remains. The Tesla, which features a Texas license plate, had been abandoned in Hollywood Hills five days before its impoundment.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has stated that the remains were not intact and showed signs of having been deceased for an extended period. Rivas was noted to be 5 feet 2 inches tall, had wavy black hair, and was wearing a tube top and black leggings at the time of her discovery. She also had a tattoo reading “Shhh” on her right index finger. The specific cause and time of death are still under investigation.
The car is registered to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd. The musician has garnered significant attention for his songs and was reportedly on tour when the remains were found, prompting the cancellation of a scheduled performance in Seattle. Authorities have stated that D4vd is cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Rivas’s death.
