Nintendo has announced that the Virtual Boy, a previously criticized VR headset, will be reintroduced on modern hardware. This renewed version will be available as part of the retro games collection for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, compatible with both the Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.
To use the games, players will require a dedicated headset accessory, designed to resemble the original Virtual Boy, which will allow users to insert the Switch or Switch 2 tablet for gameplay. Additionally, a cardboard version of the headset will be offered, akin to the Nintendo Labo VR headset.
A total of 14 games will be included in this offering, featuring popular titles such as Mario Tennis and Tetris. These games are scheduled to be accessible starting February 17, with the full release of all 14 titles occurring gradually over time. However, details regarding the launch of the headset accessories and their pricing remain unspecified.
