Polestar has officially unveiled the Polestar 5, the production version of the Precept concept car introduced five years ago. The Polestar 5 features an impressive range of up to 460 miles, utilizes an 800-volt architecture for rapid charging, and can deliver up to 884 horsepower, reaching 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds in its Performance trim.

This fastback sedan has dimensions comparable to the Porsche Panamera and is built on a unique aluminum platform developed at Polestar’s facility in England. Notably, the Polestar 5 does not have a rear window; it relies on a high-definition rearview camera instead.

The vehicle will be available in two trims: a Dual Motor version that produces 748 horsepower and accelerates to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and a Performance option with the aforementioned specs. Both models will have a maximum speed limited to 155 mph, in line with safety practices associated with Volvo, its former parent company.

The Polestar 5 is equipped with a battery offering 112 kWh of energy, with 106 kWh usable. The NMC battery pack comprises eight modules with 192 cells and has been designed to provide safety benefits by integrating it into the vehicle’s structure.

Polestar describes its new architecture, known as Polestar Performance Architecture, as enhancing both weight efficiency and rigidity. Approximately 13% of the aluminum used in this construction is recycled, aiding in reducing the vehicle’s overall carbon footprint.

Inside, the Polestar 5 features a 14.5-inch touchscreen display alongside a 9-inch digital instrument cluster. A heads-up display projects driving information directly onto the windshield, aimed at minimizing distractions. Notably, the vehicle includes 11 vision cameras for various functionalities.

Scheduled for customer deliveries in the first half of 2026, the Polestar 5 is expected to start at over $100,000 for the Performance version. Polestar has also announced plans for further models, including the Polestar 6, which will follow suit with similar architecture and powertrains. The manufacturing location for the Polestar 5 has yet to be disclosed.
