YouTube will begin offering hundreds of full classic episodes of Sesame Street starting in January 2026. This expansion is part of a partnership with Sesame Workshop, which states that YouTube will become the largest digital library of Sesame Street content available.
Currently, YouTube features a variety of popular children’s programming, including channels like Cocomelon and Ms. Rachel. Cocomelon is set to be adapted into a theatrical film scheduled for release in 2027, while Ms. Rachel has engaged in a deal with Netflix for additional content. The inclusion of classic Sesame Street episodes may provide parents with another educational viewing option for their children on the platform.
In addition to the content coming to YouTube, Netflix is set to introduce new episodes of Sesame Street, with the first episodes of Season 56 debuting on November 10, 2025. This season will feature some changes in format, presenting one 11-minute story per episode. These new episodes will also be made available simultaneously on PBS stations and PBS KIDS digital platforms in the United States.
This strategic move by both YouTube and Netflix underscores the ongoing evolution of children’s programming and its accessibility across multiple platforms.
