The rollout of this program follows a recent announcement regarding a rise in gas and electricity prices, affecting millions of individuals. Applications for the scheme will be accepted until October 27, though it may close earlier if funding is depleted.
This utilities payment scheme targets specific groups, including single parents on Universal Credit, caregivers, pensioners who receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Attendance Allowance, care leavers, and low-income adults facing work limitations due to health issues. The initiative is part of the broader government-funded Household Support Fund, designed to assist individuals with essential expenses such as food, energy, and water bills.
The council emphasizes that applicants need to meet particular income thresholds to qualify for financial assistance. Residents interested in applying can do so via the council’s website or by contacting the household support team for further guidance.
