Firmus Energy has announced a nearly 8% reduction in gas prices for customers in the Ten Towns area, translating to an average annual savings of £78 for a typical household. This price adjustment is a result of a review conducted by the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator, which oversees price controls for major suppliers including Firmus, Power NI, and SSE Gas.
Further announcements regarding tariff changes for Power NI and SSE are anticipated soon, with details for Firmus customers in Belfast expected in the coming weeks. The Ten Towns area encompasses various locations including Antrim, Armagh, Banbridge, Ballymena, and Coleraine, among others.
Colin Broomfield, a director at the Utility Regulator, acknowledged the ongoing financial challenges faced by many households and businesses due to energy costs. He advised individuals concerned about their electricity or gas payments to reach out to their suppliers to discuss their situations and explore available options.
Ryan Miskimmin from Firmus Energy stated that the company is dedicated to transferring savings to its customers. Since the previous April, Firmus has enacted successive price cuts totaling almost 19%, resulting in average savings of approximately £210 per household annually. As colder weather approaches, the company believes these reductions, along with the benefits of natural gas for heating and hot water, will be advantageous for customers in the Ten Towns area.
