On Thursday, Xbox announced the rollout of a new feature that enables cross-device play history. This update allows users to maintain a consistent list of their recently played games across different Xbox consoles, Ally handheld devices, and PCs. Consequently, players can easily pick up where they left off, regardless of the device being used.
This feature, which began testing with Xbox Insiders last month, is now available to all users. It also incorporates cloud-playable games into the recently played list, meaning that titles, whether classic Xbox games or newer Xbox Series X|S exclusives, will now be accessible in one consolidated location. This applies to games owned directly as well as those available through Xbox Game Pass.
Players can access their recently played games on console via the “Play history” tile located on the home page. Additionally, for PC users, these recent titles can be found in the Xbox app under the “Play history” tab, situated within the “Most Recent” section and in the user’s library.
As cross-device gaming continues to evolve, this update raises questions about how such features will impact user experience and engagement across different platforms.
