Hasselblad’s new medium format flagship comes with end-to-end HDR

Hasselblad has recently introduced the X2D II 100C, a medium format camera designed to take true HDR photographs. The camera features a new 3.6-inch OLED touchscreen that allows for HDR images to be reviewed instantly, boasting a peak brightness of 1,400 nits—this is reported to be 75 percent brighter than its predecessor, the original X2D 100C.

Key upgrades in this model include the incorporation of LiDAR technology to enhance autofocus, a 10-stop in-body image stabilization system, an extra customizable button, and a joystick for navigating camera functions, providing an alternative to touchscreen controls.

The X2D II 100C is priced at $7,399, which is less than its three-year-old predecessor. Both models share characteristics such as the ability to capture 100-megapixel images, 1TB of internal SSD storage, and comparable dynamic range, with the physical design remaining largely the same.

These enhancements aim to improve the overall user experience and functionality of the camera, although it is unclear how this model will perform in practice compared to earlier versions.
