Lil Nas X pleads not guilty to felony charges after LA arrest

Rapper Lil Nas X, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, has entered a not guilty plea in response to charges of injuring a police officer and resisting arrest. This follows an incident in Los Angeles where he was reportedly found wandering the streets naked. He faces three felony charges for battery with injury to a police officer and one felony charge for resisting arrest. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched after receiving a call about a nude individual in the area. Upon arrival, officers stated that the artist charged at them. After being taken into custody, he was transported to a hospital for a possible overdose. He was arraigned in a Los Angeles courthouse, where his bail was set at $75,000.

Unverified videos published by TMZ show Lil Nas X dancing in the streets, initially clad in white underwear and cowboy boots, before appearing completely nude. Footage purportedly depicts him rapping lyrics from Kanye West’s song “Monster” while standing in the road. A passerby reportedly claimed his cowboy boots and listed them for sale on eBay for $10,000.

LA police confirmed they responded to multiple reports regarding the incident on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City. During the arrest, three officers sustained injuries. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman remarked on the situation, stating that assaults on police officers pose a significant threat to public safety and will incur serious consequences.

Lil Nas X is expected to release his second studio album titled Dreamboy later this year and has been teasing new music on social media platforms. He gained notable recognition in 2019 for being the first openly gay man to win a Country Music Association award, along with receiving two Grammy Awards for his hit single “Old Town Road,” which broke multiple records on the Billboard charts.
