Bungie CEO Pete Parsons has announced his departure from the company after a decade in the role. In a Thursday update, Parsons expressed his intention to “pass the torch” to Justin Truman, a longtime developer at Bungie.
Parsons has been part of Bungie for over 20 years and has overseen significant developments, including the launch of Destiny 2 in 2017 and its major expansion, The Final Shape. In his statement, he highlighted the collective achievements of the team, mentioning the successful introduction of new chapters for the Destiny franchise, the establishment of a self-sufficient live operations organization, and the transition to being part of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Justin Truman joined Bungie in 2010 and became chief development officer in 2022. He indicated that the development team is focused on upcoming projects, specifically Marathon and Destiny, and mentioned that more information about these titles will be available later this year.
What might this leadership change mean for Bungie’s future direction and ongoing projects?
