Guernsey foundation seeks charity partners for new projects

The Guernsey Community Foundation is reaching out to local charities to collaborate on addressing issues identified in its recent Quality of Life Report for 2025. This report outlines significant challenges faced by the island’s residents, particularly concerning living costs and housing.

Jim Roberts, the chief executive of the foundation, emphasized that charities typically possess the necessary expertise to address these issues but may encounter limitations in resources or support. He stated, “We want to hear their ideas and help overcome the barriers.”

Charities interested in participating are encouraged to contact Mr. Roberts with a brief description of their proposals and how these initiatives could benefit the local community. Roberts acknowledges the specialized knowledge that charities hold in their specific areas, noting, “Charities are specialists in their respective fields and know exactly what needs to be done to make things better for people.” However, he also pointed out that various factors, such as time constraints, financial limitations, and sometimes a lack of confidence or experience, can hinder their ability to act. The foundation aims to provide assistance in these areas.

This initiative highlights the potential for collaboration between the foundation and local charities to effectively tackle social issues affecting islanders.
