At least 15 individuals are presumed dead following recent flash floods in Pakistan’s north-western region, which is still recovering from a significant deluge that occurred the previous week. An official indicated that a sudden influx of water submerged numerous homes and swept away residents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The ongoing heavy rainfall has also hampered relief operations in the affected areas. Reports indicate that the cumulative death toll across Pakistan and Pakistani-administered Kashmir has surpassed 330. Emergency response teams are currently engaged in search and rescue efforts but are facing challenges due to heavy mud and debris.
The situation raises questions about the adequacy of existing infrastructure and disaster preparedness in light of these recurrent flooding events.
