The King and Queen participated in a two-minute silence during a ceremony in Staffordshire to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. This event was attended by several veterans, some of whom were involved in the ceremony by laying wreaths and reading passages. VJ Day, or Victory over Japan Day, is observed annually on August 15, commemorating the date in 1945 when Japan surrendered to Allied forces, effectively bringing World War II to an end.
