Samsung has announced that its Micro RGB technology will be available in smaller screen sizes, expanding from the previously released 115-inch model. The new offerings will include sizes of 55, 65, 75, 85, 98, and 100 inches. With these sizes, Samsung aims to make the technology more accessible for various living spaces, as larger screens may not be practical for many consumers.
The Micro RGB TVs utilize individual red, green, and blue LEDs, each measuring less than 100 micrometers. This size is notably smaller than both the diameter of a strand of human hair and the length of a dust particle. By using RGB LEDs for backlighting rather than the traditional white or blue LEDs found in most LED TVs, Samsung claims to enhance the color purity and brightness of the displays.
Details regarding pricing and specific release dates for these new models are expected to be disclosed at CES in January. Further insights into Samsung’s approach to naming conventions for this technology, particularly the distinction between “mini” and “micro,” have not been clearly defined, raising questions about industry standards.
