Remedy Entertainment has announced a sequel to its original game, Control, titled Control Resonant. Set to release in 2026, the new game shifts the timeline forward by seven years and changes the setting from the original’s mysterious Oldest House to a more expansive Manhattan. Players will take on the role of Dylan Faden, the brother of Control‘s main character, Jesse Faden.
According to Remedy, the narrative begins with Dylan’s release from confinement by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), where he was held for years. He is assigned to address a supernatural crisis that involves a cosmic entity altering the fabric of reality. As he develops his powers, Dylan aims to confront a variety of threats affecting Manhattan while also searching for his sister, Jesse, who is now the FBC Director.
Initially referred to as Control 2, Remedy’s creative director Mikael Kasurinen indicated that Resonant can be played independently of the original game. He characterized the sequel as “not a safe sequel” and emphasized the studio’s intent to innovate.
A notable gameplay element in Resonant is a new shapeshifting melee weapon. However, Remedy has not disclosed specific enemy types, carefully avoiding mention of the term “hiss,” which was a significant element in the original game. While not classified as an open-world title, the studio describes Resonant as its largest project to date, with enhanced combat, exploration, and storytelling experiences.
Control Resonant is expected to play a crucial role in Remedy’s upcoming plans. It will be available on multiple platforms, including PS5, Xbox, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store). However, an exact release date has yet to be announced.
