INIU has announced a recall of its BI-B41 10,000mAh power banks due to safety concerns regarding the lithium-ion batteries they contain. The company indicated that these batteries have the potential to overheat and ignite, creating risks of fire and burns. Reports to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) indicate that there have been 15 incidents of overheating, which resulted in 11 fires, leading to over $380,000 in property damage and three minor burn injuries.
Approximately 210,000 of these power banks were sold via Amazon between August 2021 and April 2022, with a retail price of around $18. Consumers can identify the recalled units by their blue or black casings featuring the INIU logo and a distinctive “paw-print LED light” on the front. The recall specifically pertains to power banks with serial numbers 000G21, 000H21, 000I21, and 000L21.
Those who own these power banks may want to consider the potential hazards associated with their continued use. Further details regarding the recall process and instructions for returning or exchanging the product are typically provided by the company and relevant safety agencies.
