KARACHI:
A group of lawyers physically assaulted police officers, including an inspector, outside the Sindh High Court (SHC). The incident, which was recorded on video and circulated on social media, has attracted significant condemnation.
Police sources indicate that a team from Thatta district arrived at the SHC to apprehend wanted suspects. Allegedly tipped off by relatives of the suspects, the lawyers, representing them, confronted the police upon learning about their intentions. They obstructed the officers from entering the court premises and physically assaulted them, including dragging the inspector during the attack. Despite the confrontation, police remained on-site. After the cancellation of the suspects’ bail applications, police successfully arrested the suspects outside the court.
Authorities have confirmed that they have secured footage of the incident and an investigation is in progress. A senior police officer stated, “Legal action will be taken against all those involved, in accordance with the law.”
