Apple’s chip chief might be the next exec to leave

Bloomberg reports that Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies, has informed CEO Tim Cook of his consideration to leave the company for another opportunity. This follows an October report indicating Srouji was evaluating his future at Apple. While no final decision has been confirmed, indications suggest he may not continue with the company.

Srouji’s potential departure would contribute to a series of recent executive changes within Apple’s leadership team. In July, COO Jeff Williams announced his retirement, prompting a reshuffle of roles within the organization. December has seen an accelerated turnover, with several high-profile exits including AI chief John Giannandrea, who has stepped down, and both policy lead Lisa Jackson and general counsel Kate Adams, who have announced plans to retire. Additionally, Alan Dye, who led UI design, is reported to be leaving for a position at Meta.

This leadership turnover occurs amidst challenges Apple faces in the evolving AI landscape. The company has been struggling to establish its position as the industry increasingly adapts to artificial intelligence. Tim Cook is now faced with addressing these changes while navigating speculation regarding his own potential departure, which though deemed premature by Gurman, raises questions about the future stability of Apple’s leadership.
