Tyneside shop owner gives back to community this Christmas after viral TikTok fame

Community Support Initiatives by Local Shop Owner in South Shields

Jag Singh, a shop owner at Horsley Hill Premier in South Shields, is implementing several community support initiatives this festive season. Known locally as ‘Bossman’, Singh is collaborating with the delivery app Snappy Shopper to offer quick grocery deliveries to residents in South Tyneside, aiming to enhance the local community’s connection to his business.

Additionally, Singh has partnered with the charitable organization Wrap for Jak to distribute 100 selection boxes, aimed at providing children living in poverty with gifts this Christmas. Singh plans to host a local store dash event, allowing nominated ‘local heroes’ a chance to collect items from the shop in one minute as a reward for their community contributions. He is also offering winter packs and a £500 hamper to a nominated local family.

Singh noted that these efforts are a way to give back to the community that has supported him, as evidenced by his significant following on social media platforms, including 38,000 on Instagram and nearly 290,000 on TikTok.

  • Why it matters:
    • This initiative showcases the potential of local businesses to engage in community support, which can strengthen customer loyalty.
    • It highlights the growing trend of businesses integrating social responsibility into their operations, potentially influencing consumer preferences.
  • The latest: Singh’s store will feature a local store dash, providing an interactive opportunity for community engagement.
