The Western Central Regional Police Command has apprehended ten men in connection with a viral video depicting the physical assault of two women in Wassa Dawurampong, Wassa Amenfi East District. The incident allegedly involved the women being accused of stealing money from a gold-buying shop.
The arrests were executed by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team in cooperation with the local police command. Among the arrested individuals, three main suspects—Eric Donkor (32), Yaw Gyimah (29), and Edmond Nartey (24)—were identified in the footage participating in the assault. The video showed one attacker cutting the scalp of one of the victims with a razor.
A fourth suspect, Tawiah, also known as Awaga, allegedly used the razor but remains at large, with police efforts underway to locate him. Seven other individuals—Stephen Amu (24), Farouk Balas (18), Mensah Bernard (18), Adul Ruqqieq (23), Bismark Nyarko (30), Akwesi Poku George (18), and Oteng Alfred (23)—were arrested for their roles in aiding the assault.
Authorities indicated that once the screening process is complete, the main suspects will face court proceedings. They are also in the process of locating the victims to offer medical treatment and necessary support. The Regional Police Commander, D.C.O.P. Desmond Owusu Boampong, has urged the public to avoid vigilante justice and to report suspects to the police for formal investigation.
