Meta has launched a pilot program offering trade-in discounts on its smart glasses, available until December 31st. Eligible products for trade-in discounts include the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, Oakley Meta HSTN, and Oakley Meta Vanguard. However, the Meta Ray-Ban Display and limited edition or refurbished models are not part of this promotion.
Customers looking to upgrade from the first-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses can trade them in for discounts. Additionally, Meta is providing trade-in credit for certain pairs of earbuds. Notably, a reference to “Apple AirPods Pro 4” raises questions since such a model does not currently exist; clarification on whether this pertains to AirPods 4 or AirPods Pro 3 is needed.
To utilize the trade-in discount, customers must purchase glasses directly from Meta. After selecting eligible glasses, a trade-in offer should appear in the shopping cart. Reports from users suggest that changing web browsers may help in displaying the trade-in option if it does not show up right away.
Discounts depend on the condition of the traded device, with Meta offering rebates of up to $113 off the typical $379 retail price of the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. This model reportedly features enhanced battery life and upgraded camera capabilities compared to its predecessor. Consumers may find that the first-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses, currently on sale, could be a more affordable option if battery life and wearability are not critical to their needs.
