Aqara’s $99 Wi-Fi smart lock is a good-looking budget option

Aqara has introduced its new wireless smart lock, the B50, priced at $99.99. This model features a backlit keypad and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, eliminating the need for a hub thanks to its built-in Wi-Fi. Users can unlock the lock using different methods, including entering a passcode, issuing voice commands, controlling it via an app, or using a physical key.

The Aqara B50 allows users to create various types of PIN codes, including one-time, recurring, and permanent options. Additionally, it includes an “anti-peek” feature that enables users to input random digits before and after entering their PIN, designed to enhance privacy by preventing others from viewing the code. The lock’s status and PIN can be monitored remotely through the Aqara home app, and it can be integrated with Matter platforms like Apple Home by connecting it to an Aqara Matter hub.

This smart lock operates on four AA batteries and can provide up to six months of battery life. In the event of a battery depletion, users have the option to connect a power bank via a built-in USB-C port or use a physical key as an alternative access method. The Aqara B50 is currently available exclusively at Lowe’s in the United States and on Aqara’s official website.
