Nasa astronaut films the Northern Lights from space

NASA astronaut Zena Cardman observed the Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, from the International Space Station on November 17. During her experience, she noted that while she has not seen the aurora from the ground, it is a regular occurrence from her vantage point in space.

Cardman is currently serving as the commander of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-11 mission, which launched from Earth on August 1. In her communications, she has invited viewers to identify locations such as Houston and Florida while viewing the footage of the auroras.

This occurrence highlights the unique perspectives astronauts have while aboard the International Space Station.
