Microsoft is introducing the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) to a broader range of devices, including laptops, desktops, and tablets. This feature, which offers a console-like user interface for navigating game libraries using a controller, was initially launched with the Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds.
The rollout of FSE to additional devices is part of the new Windows Insider Preview Builds available on the Dev and Beta channels for participants in the Xbox Insider Program. To activate this feature on a PC, users can hover over the Task View icon on the taskbar and select “Xbox full screen experience.” Alternatively, it can be accessed through the Game Bar settings or by pressing Win + F11 to toggle the experience.
It is important to note that even if users are part of the Windows Insider Program, access to FSE may be limited as Microsoft is gradually rolling out the feature with the new builds. Additionally, users will need to have the Xbox app installed from the Microsoft Store to utilize FSE.
This development raises questions about the overall integration of console features into the PC gaming experience and how users will adapt to these changes.
