West Northamptonshire Council is hosting a series of money and wellbeing roadshows aimed at assisting residents in managing the challenges associated with winter. These events will unite various organizations to provide practical advice ranging from home energy efficiency to debt support and mental health resources.
The roadshows are part of a broader initiative to enhance the welfare of local residents, allowing for personalized assistance in a supportive environment. According to Laura Couse, a Reform UK councillor and cabinet member for adult care and public health, it is essential for community members to recognize that they do not need to face winter challenges alone.
The events will be held in partnership with libraries, community centers, and charities, offering free guidance to help individuals maintain their health and manage financial concerns during the colder months. Scheduled from 20 November to 20 February 2026, the roadshows will take place in locations including Kingsthorpe, Daventry, Towcester, and Northampton. Each event is expected to focus on specific issues, such as support for older residents, family-oriented advice, and resources tailored for families with preschool children.
Couse acknowledged that winter can be a particularly challenging period for many individuals, citing factors such as increasing energy costs and health concerns. She emphasized that the roadshows are designed not only to offer advice but also to foster community connections. The aim is to provide a welcoming space for individuals who may be anxious about heating their homes, managing finances, or simply in need of someone to talk to.
