The House of Representatives Oversight Committee has made available over 20,000 pages of documents from the late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s estate. The records include names such as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, former President Donald Trump, his ex-advisor Steve Bannon, and various others linked to media and entertainment, highlighting Epstein’s extensive network.
Trump, who was once friends with Epstein, has stated that they fell out around 2004, well before Epstein’s first arrest. He has asserted that he never engaged in any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.
Included in the documents are emails relevant to several prominent figures. Michael Wolff, a journalist known for his book “Fire and Fury,” communicated with Epstein during the 2016 presidential campaign. Wolff informed Epstein about CNN’s intention to question Trump regarding his connection with Epstein. In return, Epstein discussed potential responses and strategies.
Larry Summers, a former Treasury Secretary, appears to have frequently dined with Epstein and sought connections to influential people through him. In a November 2016 email, Summers expressed a desire to stay away from Trump due to concerns over conflicts of interest.
Kathryn Ruemmler, a former White House counsel, exchanged emails with Epstein regarding hush money payments made by Trump to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Goldman Sachs, where Ruemmler is employed, stood by her, noting the correspondence occurred before her tenure. Ruemmler later stated her regret over knowing Epstein.
Other notable individuals in the documents include billionaire investor Peter Thiel and linguist Noam Chomsky. Thiel was invited by Epstein to visit his Caribbean island, while Chomsky’s emails indicate occasional discussions with Epstein on various topics, including Trump.
Epstein also reached out to publicist Peggy Siegal in an attempt to discredit allegations made against him. Siegal confirmed she never acted on Epstein’s request, emphasizing that it was an unreasonable demand.
