A mud volcano in Taiwan erupted on Wednesday, releasing water, sediments, and gas. During the eruption, local residents were observed throwing flaming rags into the volcano, igniting methane gas that was emitted.
The Wandan mud volcano is noted for being an unusual example of this geological phenomenon, according to geologist Dr. Mark Tingay. He mentioned that while this volcano predominantly erupts from a specific location in southern Taiwan, new eruption sites can occasionally emerge several kilometers away.
In the past three years, the Wandan mud volcano has experienced a total of 11 eruptions. The implications of these eruptions and the reasons for the formation of new sites in the area remain areas of interest for geological study.
