Sandisk’s new 1TB USB-C SSD is so small you never need to take it out

Sandisk has introduced a new USB-C flash drive, reportedly the smallest in the world with a capacity of 1TB. The device is designed to be compact enough to remain plugged into a laptop without removal.

This flash drive, named the Extreme Fit, features an L-shaped design that fits into a USB-C port while protruding slightly vertically. This design allows it to be flush with the laptop, minimizing the risk of physical interference when closing the device. However, users should exercise caution when transporting laptops, as the USB-C connector can be fragile and susceptible to damage.

The Extreme Fit is available in multiple capacities: 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, with the highest capacity version positioned as a noteworthy offering. The flash drive employs USB 3.2 Gen 1, allowing for transfer speeds of up to 400MB/s, although the 64GB version has a reduced speed of 300MB/s.

For those who may not require the full 1TB capacity, a smaller equivalent from Suneast, which offers up to 512GB, was released earlier but is currently only available in Japan. In contrast, Sandisk’s Extreme Fit is available for order in the US and other regions, with prices starting at $15.99 for the 64GB version and reaching $117.99 for the 1TB model.
