Gemini for TV is coming to Google TV Streamer starting today

Gemini for TV is being rolled out to Google TV Streamer devices starting today, significantly expanding its accessibility compared to its initial launch in September, when it was limited to select smart TVs. Now, users with devices that feature an HDMI port, HDCP 1.3 or later, and a reliable internet connection can utilize this service.

This new version of Gemini for TV takes the place of Google Assistant, maintaining core voice assistant functions but adopting a more conversational approach. Users can request movie recommendations tailored to their preferred genres, ask for summaries of previous seasons of their shows, or perform smart home tasks like viewing camera feeds.

The rollout of Gemini for TV will occur progressively over the coming weeks, so some users may not see the update immediately. To verify whether the update is available, users can navigate to the settings on their Google TV Streamer, select their account under “Accounts & Profiles,” and then choose “Voice Assistant.” If eligible for the update, users will see an option to enable “Gemini for TV.”
