BBC reports on devastation left in wake of Philippines super typhoon

Typhoon Fung-wong has weakened as it moves across the South China Sea and is projected to approach Taiwan. The typhoon impacted the Philippines, where it resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

Prior to Fung-wong making landfall on Sunday as a super typhoon, more than one million people in the Philippines were evacuated. The storm brought significant wind speeds of 185 km/h (115 mph) with gusts reaching up to 230 km/h (143 mph).

Reports indicate that damage in the region may be less severe than initially anticipated; however, there are ongoing concerns regarding rising water levels.
