Grand Theft Auto VI launch delayed until November 2026

Rockstar Games has announced a delay for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is now set to launch on November 19, 2026. The game was originally scheduled for release on May 26, 2026, and prior to that, was anticipated in 2025. The upcoming installment will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In a statement, Rockstar acknowledged the extended wait and expressed appreciation for the community’s patience. They emphasized that the additional months will ensure the game meets the expected quality standards. The game is set in Vice City and follows two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, who become entangled in a criminal conspiracy in the fictional state of Leonida.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the delay, stating that if a game needs more polishing, time will be allotted to meet quality expectations. He indicated confidence in the new release date, which aligns with a favorable fiscal window.

In a separate but related development, Rockstar has faced allegations of union-busting following the firing of 30 to 40 employees. A spokesperson for the company clarified that these actions were taken against individuals who were allegedly sharing confidential information and were not related to employees’ rights to engage in union activities.

As anticipation builds for GTA VI, the context of delays and workplace issues raises questions about the development environment and future releases from the studio.
