The latest firmware version 2.0 is now available through Ultimate Software V2 on Windows and Mac, introducing shake-to-wake support for the Switch 2. This feature allows users to simply turn on the controller, give it a shake, and wake the console from standby. Confirmation of this feature has been provided by users testing it on their Switch 2 consoles with both controllers.
Despite the new firmware, the absence of wake-up support in earlier models has influenced some to recommend alternative controllers. Priced at approximately $69.99 each, the 8BitDo controllers are not the least expensive options available. Comparatively, more affordable models, such as GuliKit’s ES Pro, which retails for $29.99, have offered wireless wake-up capabilities for the Switch 2 for several months.
